Council-Manager Form of Government

Did you know that Castle Pines is a ‘Council-Manager’ form of government?

This separation of responsibilities between the city council and the city manager allows for greater efficiency in service delivery, diffusion of power away from special interests, and the flexibility to adapt to local issues.

The city council focuses on policy while the city manager handles the day-to-day administration and implementation of these policies.

With a council made up of seven people, no one person can push a policy through. Each decision on a policy must be approved by a majority of council members in order to pass.

Building relationships with the other council members and the city staff is crucial to success so that you gain a better understanding of each person's perspective and can share ideas on how to improve the city.
