Did you know residents make up and serve on the planning commission and the parks and recreation board?

The planning commission is made up of 7 residents, each serve a three year term. They review site improvement plans, land-use applications, zoning regulations, and amendments to plats.

Their recommendations then go to city council for review.

The parks and recreation advisory board is made up of 5 residents and one youth resident, who is a non-voting member. They also serve for three year terms.

They review the city’s Park and Recreation Comprehensive Plan and advise city council on recommendations for park and recreation improvements and development.

Each of these recommendations becomes a resolution that is put on the consent agenda two weeks before it is presented to council, giving residents time to reach out with questions and to do their own research.

The resolutions then go before city council for debate and implementation if and when approved.

There is also designated time at each city council meeting for public comment.
