Economic Development

On this week’s consent agenda (10-14-25) is Resolution 25-44 to approve a PSA between the city and Ayres Associates.
I got to be a part of interviewing five companies that were selected out of 17 as potential firms to work on development of an Economic Development Strategic Plan for the City.
One company rose to the top.
Why?
They did their research. They understood the city’s unique challenges and opportunities.
They had also previously worked with our community development director and senior planner on a grant designated for the affordable housing code amendment.
This company has also conducted a lot of work in Colorado and are a local firm. They have worked on economic development projects with the towns of Erie, Loveland, and Elizabeth in Colorado. They have also done projects in Wyoming, Montana, Texas, New Hampshire, Alabama, and North and South Carolina.
Their responses to the questions were thorough and thoughtful.
I completed an MBA in June and have a keen interest in economics. One of the best books on this topic is Thomas Sowell’s Basic Economics. It is one of my favorite books for its clear explanation of the allocation of scare resources for limited uses with real-world examples that demonstrate the consequences of bad policy vs well-thought out, objective policy on cities, towns, and nations and the people who reside there.
What questions do you have about economic development in Castle Pines?
