Budget
Let’s talk numbers. One of the first things I did when I started on council in December 2024 was go through every line of the 2025 budget. I have met with the finance director and city manager five times in the past 10 months to better understand the budget and mill levies. The city takes 16.5 mills from property taxes. 4.5 mills is for law enforcement and public safety. 12 mills funds city-managed amenities, improvements, operations, and maintenance (e.g., park upkeep, tr

Support Law Enforcement
Did you know Colorado ranks fourth-worst nationally for recidivism overall, but rates vary by offense type: property crimes have higher recidivism (up to 78% nationally), while violent crimes are lower. Castle Pines contracts with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) to provide comprehensive law enforcement services and a dedicated Traffic Unit and broader patrol efforts, which have contributed to reducing speeding and greater safety around school zones. Recent example

Community
Many residents and all of city council have expressed their desire for a ‘town square.’ While the development on the west side does not offer an ideal space for that, the city offers events throughout the year to bring the community together. Over the summer, there are concerts in the park, party in the park, food truck frenzy, summer splash, and a drive in movie. This past weekend was fall fest where residents could gather around a bonfire, eat some barbeque, cook smores ove

Economic Development
On this week’s consent agenda (10-14-25) is Resolution 25-44 to approve a PSA between the city and Ayres Associates. I got to be a part of interviewing five companies that were selected out of 17 as potential firms to work on development of an Economic Development Strategic Plan for the City. One company rose to the top. Why? They did their research. They understood the city’s unique challenges and opportunities. They had also previously worked with our community developmen

Council Year in Review
This past year I have prioritized relationships and research. I have built relationships with you, our residents and neighbors, city staff, council members, our partners in the neighboring municipalities and metro districts, our sheriff’s office, and our developers. Researching, reading, and asking questions about each meeting’s packet has ensured I can make well-informed and educated decisions about what is best for the community. The council has approved and supported 284

What Are Independent Expenditure Committees?
An independent expenditure committee is a group that raises and spends money to influence elections by creating ads, mailers, or other public messages that support or oppose specific candidates. The key is they operate independently —they can't coordinate directly with candidates or political parties or their campaigns The Rules That Govern Them These committees are overseen by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) , a government agency that enforces election laws. The rules

Who's Kori?
Who am I? First and foremost, I am a Christian. ✝️ Christian values guide my life, actions, and worldview. Second, I am a wife. I value my marriage and am devoted to my husband and dedicated to our marriage. We were unable to have children. 💔 Third, I am a patriot. 🇺🇸 I believe in the principles set forth by the founding fathers. I think we have moved away from them over the past 250 years. I believe our public officials, especially our congressmen, senators, and presiden

Wildfire Mitigation
Did you know the city mitigated 255 acres of city open space for wildfire prevention? There were also opportunities for residents and HOAs to apply for grants for wildfire mitigation. City Council identified wildfire mitigation as a high priority and authorized 255 acres of mechanical mitigation in city open spaces to be completed in 2025, with only 10 acres left to be mitigated. While we all live the privacy the gamble oaks provide, they are flammable trees. The mitigation
